Fun with Coupons

As you may or may not know, I've been having fun with coupons for about a month. This weekend, I went a little overboard and I wanted to share...check it out...

Date: 12/16/11 12:51 PM
Location: Target (Schenectady, NY)
Retail Cost of Items: $16.54
Amount Paid out of pocket: $0
Rewards redeemed (and not replaced): $.82 (via previously awarded gift card)
Notes: There is a stupid conflaguration of coupons on this Glade Holiday stuff as they try to get rid of it. Stacking Target and manufactorers coupons let me get it for basically free. Overages on the other small items helped as well.

Date: 12/16/11 2:00 pm
Location: K-Mart (Colonie, NY)
Retail Cost of Items: $29.03
Amount Paid out of pocket: $17.62
Rewards redeemed (and not replaced): n/a
Notes: K-Mart was having a double coupon day. I didn't do a good job here. I knew I needed juice boxes for the rugrat's xmas party. And I wanted to impress the wife with a good deal on tampons but, generally speaking, I did terrible. The tampons weren't THAT cheap and I bought a bunch of junk food with mediocre coupons on them, cause I hadn't had lunch. Still, saved $12 bucks.

Date: 12/16/11 2:09 PM
Location: Walgreens (Colonie, NY)
Retail Cost of Items: $4.58
Amount Paid out of pocket: $.99 incl tax
Rewards redeemed (and not replaced): $0 ($3 in RR redeemed; $4 in RR received)
Notes: Always have time to stop off for a free nail polish and a snickers nutcracker.

Date: 12/16/11 8:01 PM
Location: Walmart (Guilderland, NY)
Retail Cost of Items: $25.26
Amount Paid out of pocket: $12.74 (incl $.48 tax)
Rewards redeemed (and not replaced): n/a
Notes: This was just some fun overage. The belt was $10 (I needed a belt) and the sausages were $2.98 (I was hungry), so right there, I am over the amount spent. All the other items had coupons with overages and the cashier was too tired (she complained twice to the manager during my time there that she was overdue for break) to properly adjust the coupons. The Laxatives were $1.98 each and the coupon was $5 off of 2, so I basically made a $1.04 there. Now, it won't always happen like that but...still, pretty cool.

Date: 12/16/11 8:33 pm
Location: Target (Latham, NY)
Retail Cost of Items: $14.26
Amount Paid out of pocket: $3.10
Rewards redeemed (and not replaced): $0 (Used $4.18 in gift cards but got $5 in gift cards)
Notes: This time, I didn't have enough $2 Glade coupons, so the deal didn't work out as smoothly. Ended up costing me $7.28 out of pocket but I used the rest of my $10 gift card from last week to offset some of it.

Date: 12/16/11 9:40 PM
Location: K-Mart (Latham, NY)
Retail Cost of Items: $27.65
Amount Paid out of pocket: $6.14 (incl $.98 tax)
Rewards redeemed (and not replaced): n/a
Notes: K-Mart was having double coupon day. I chose items to best match the maximum coupon value ($2 doubled to $4) and the minimum $25 grocery/pharmacy purchase. Milk is the best filler item ever!

Date: 12/18/11 1:35 PM
Location: Rite Aid (Troy, NY)
Retail Cost of Items: $29.34
Amount Paid out of pocket: $5.67
Rewards redeemed (and not replaced): $1 ($6 in +UP redeemed; $5 in +UP received)
Notes: Nice stocking stuffers for the Rugrat. Oh yeah, Rite Aid has Turtle Check Mix on a BOGO sale. $3.19 for 2 of those is basically theft.

Date: 12/18/11 1:40 PM
Location: Rite Aid (Troy, NY)
Retail Cost of Items: $2
Amount Paid out of pocket: $.16
Rewards redeemed (and not replaced): $0 ($2 in +UP redeemed; $2 in +UP received)
Notes: Wrapped around a couple of rewards for free gum.

Date: 12/18/11 1:33 PM
Location: Rite Aid (Troy, NY)
Retail Cost of Items: $13.86
Amount Paid out of pocket: $2.20 (incl $.96 tax)
Rewards redeemed (and not replaced): $0 ($5 in +UP redeemed; $5 in +UP received)
Notes: Coupons + Rewards = Good.

Note: Picture is all of the Rite Aid loot but I did it in three transactions.

Date: 12/18/11 12:21 PM
Location: CVS (Troy, NY)
Retail Cost of Items: $34.84
Amount Paid out of pocket: $4.82
Rewards redeemed (and not replaced): $1 ($16 in ECB redeemed); $15 in ECB received)
Notes: The Excedrin was $20.36 with a $10 ECB and three coupons totalling $8, I paid $2.36 + tax for all that medicine that I do not need :) I consider the medicine free and the $2.36 an entertainment cost because this shit is FUN. :)
